Greetings, The Arkansas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers will be holding its first meeting of the 2009-2010 year on Wednesday – September 9th. Date: September 9, 2009 Location: Fianna Hills Country Club (1 Essex Place, Fort Smith, AR 72908; 479-646-7861) Time: 11:30 – 12:00 Social Time and Lunch, 12:00 – 1:00 presentation Speaker: Rod Kelly, VP-Sales and Marketing, Data Retrieval Corporation Topic: Non-Intervention Surface Well Testing Cost: $20 per person ($10 for Legion of Honor members) Data Retrieval Corporation is the manufacturer of the SPIDR (Self Powered Intelligent Data Retriever). The SPIDR was developed for pressure transient testing of oil and gas wells without running gauges downhole. Applications of the SPIDR include pressure build-up and drawdown, two-rate flow testing, deliverability testing, and frac monitoring. Mr. Kelly is a graduate of Oklahoma State University in 1982 with a BS in Petroleum Engineering Technology. He started his career working in the field for Geo Vann, the innovators of Tubing Conveyed Perforating (TCP) systems. Mr. Kelly was transferred and developed the TCP market for Halliburton in Argentina & Trinidad before moving into an engineering role in the Tools, Testing and TCP division of Halliburton. He has been with Data Retrieval Corporation for over 8 years and most recently as VP for Sales and Marketing. Mr. Kelly's emphasis will be on furthering industry awareness and market growth in the area of non-invasive pressure transient testing as an alternative to the traditional high cost/high risk well testing methods. Reservoir testing and analysis is a vital tool in gathering reliable information to allow for accurate well management, planning and asset optimization. Please invite your co-workers for this meeting. If you are planning to attend, you need to send an RSVP to me by Tuesday – September 8, 2009. As always, you do not have to be a member to attend the meeting. Visit the Arkansas SPE Section website at www.arkansas-spe.org/ to learn more about SPE. Also note and visit the sponsors of the website, as all sponsorship monies go towards Arkansas SPE Section scholarships. If you are interested in contributing to this worthy cause and at the same time gain prominent advertising space on the website for your company, contact Jerry Rusnak (jerryr@jblllc.com).
